Maybe I misheard? Hopefully it's a mistake... I just heard on radio one that the government are debating new science laws that will allow parents to conceive children to act as donors for their other children? This has already happened with bone marrow and is often the subject of terrifying literature.
Surely this IS a mistake. I've found nothing on google as yet. Watch this space...

I almost cried when I read that!!!!!- I lve you gary!!!
For info on the HFE Bill see - that's the bill for the donor children etc - www.passionforlife.org or HFEBill.org
gov is trying in introduce a load of gros things
human animal hybrids, probably now called something else by gov, taking of gametes from dead bodies without permission
saviour siblings - the donor children
and introducing no need for a father on the birth certificate, this also means that any old joe can get themselves a baby by IVF. And anyway the birth cert is a historical/ factual document that the gov is messing with.
I could go on......but i'll stop now!!!

I've been checking this out again as it is a concern of mine. I got the bit about gametes being removed from dead bodies wrong. It's the storage in some cases that they won't be asking permission - especially if you are a donor child. Inequality comes to mind. Although I noticed the media was doing a good job in the emotional blackmail and misinformation department!! Saw a lady who is trying to produce a donor child for her boy- she already had a baby girl naturally to try and get the tissue needed. Does she not realise that if this legislation was already in place her girl would have been rejected and now no longer exist. For what the bill really says
see http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2007-08/humanfertilisationandembryology.html
for info especially this bit "....... suffers from a serious medical condition which could be treated by umbilical cord blood stem cells, bone marrow or other tissue of any resulting child, establishing whether the tissue of any resulting child would be compatible with that of the sibling.........."
I can hear the cash tills ringing!!!!
